4-H camp

Last week we went to 4-H camp.  The kids had a blast.  The mosquitos had a feast.  The grownups wished they had time for a nap.  I came home with 2 Very tired kiddos and a painful sunburn.  All so worth it.  

There was never a lack of fun things to do.  3 days didn't feel long enough to the kids, they wanted to stay all week, and longer!

There were moments of nostalgia for me as this is the same camp that I went to for 4-H camp.  It made me miss being 12 for a minute.  (only for a minute).
The kids were blown away at how OLD the camp must be if Shar and I went there as kids (because we're SO very old:).

Spencer, Emmy and I stopped at Grandma Moon's when we left camp.  Here is what they did immediately after we got there.  (So did I, in another part of the house). 
Oh so tired, and the kids are already oh so excited to do it again next year.

Santa's gingerbread village~

Here is what our afternoon was all about.  How cute are these?  For our 4-H meeting today my mom volunteered to help the kids make gingerbread houses (ok, graham cracker houses).  Thanks to a bunch of great parents and grandparents we had all sorts of goodies to build and decorate with! 

The kids had non stop fun and ended up with wonderful cottages, and mansions!  One even had a garage!  What a funny, messy, silly good time we had!

The time of year for giving

Our 4-H kids have decided to do a holiday service project.
They're doing a toy and book drive to gather gifts for the children of families in need this holiday season.
They're asking for donations of New of Very Gently used toys, books, games, dvds and other age appropriate media or money donations to buy these items.
Its so much fun to see these kids get so excited about helping other kids. I love that they are so enthusiastic about this project. They have worked hard to get their donation boxes and flyers out around town. They've set big goals to
Any help to this cause would be greatly appreciated. If you are close by and would like to donate anything please leave me a message or email. If you aren't nearby and would like to help that would be great too just get in touch with me. (we can utilize mail or paypal:) Keep in mind that even a couple of dollars to this project would help brighten the day of a child. Presentation time

A couple of the kids are in dog 4-H this year and we've been getting geared up for presentation time. A lot of thought has been put into which photos they want to use for their posters for the presentations. Spencer has decided to not only include info and photos of Molly (his project dog) but also to tell about the other dogs in the family (including Toj who passed away a couple of years ago.) It has been fun to go through the pictures. It is so crazy to me how much I can still miss Toj.
Anyway, 4-H is going so well and it looks like Molly is going to learn enough that we won't have to label her "special". Haha, she really is a smart dog, puppies can just be so ....annoying!
We've been watching a lot of The Simpsons (as always) and today caught the episode where Santa's little helper has to go to obedience school. John was cracking up at how like our dogs Santa's helper is in that episode. Like Corie would say, the line between The Simpsons and reality is oh so thin!!
